What is Tendinitis?

Tendinitis is a health condition that occurs when you have swelling or pain of a tendon. Tendon is that leathery cord that affixes muscle to bone. A person with this condition suffers from aching and soreness just outside of a joint. Tendinitis can happen in any of your tendons but is mostly seen in the shoulder, elbow, wrists, knees, and heels.

What are the Symptoms of Tendinitis?

Symptoms of tendinitis have a tendency to appear at the time where a tendon connects to a bone and usually includes pain often explained as a dreary pain, particularly when turning the impacted limb or joint, plus inflammation and slight puffiness.

What are the Causes of Tendinitis?

You get Tendinitis primarily due to recurrence of a movement over time. Also, a sudden injury can cause Tendinitis.

When to see a Doctor?

Mostly, tendonitis reacts to self-care methods and can be cured with proper rest. However, if your symptoms worsen or if you improve further signs you have to call your doctor earlier rather than later. Some tendonitis cases require physical treatment and medicines that decrease aching and inflammation.

Lifestyle Prevention of Tendinitis

Preventing Tendinitis is not always possible. However, some measures may reduce the possibility of developing this condition.
  • One of the major preventive measures can be staying away from any activities that place extreme stress on tendons. So, whenever you are feeling any pain in the course of a certain exercise, you should immediately stop and rest. Even after resting for a while, you are experiencing pain then try to change the exercise.
  • The pain during exercise may also be caused by the wrong technique. Try to seek assistance from a professional trainer on how to do that exercise without any flaws. Improving technique will surely help you to reduce excess strain on your tendons and hence you can avoid Tendinitis.
  • Another important practice to avoid Tendinitis is to do proper stretching before and after exercise. This will help you increase the limit of movement of your joints. This will surely minimize the possibility of repetitive damage.
  • Muscle strengthening is also a great way to reduce the risk of Tendinitis. So, try to understand the techniques by which you can strengthen your muscles.
