What is Asthma and Wheezing?

Asthma is a mixed set of symptoms characterized by variable quantity, adjustable airway obstacles, and unusually enhanced sensitivity (hyperreactivity) of the airways to different stimuli. The disorder is described by wheezing, chest stiffness, dyspnea, or cough, and effects from the pervasive abbreviation of tracheobronchial soft muscle (bronchoconstriction), hypersecretion of mucus, and mucosal edema, all of which restricted the capacity of the airways. The subsequent airflow obstacle may be chronic or sporadic, with breathing indicators determining either instinctively or as a consequence of treatment (bronchodilators or corticosteroids). What are the Symptoms of Asthma and Wheezing?

The symptoms of asthma fluctuate from individual to individual. In most cases, asthma is triggered by respiratory infections, such as cold or flu. There are instances when you might develop this condition due to some allergic reactions, such as dust allergies or pollen allergies, etc. Fumes or air pollution can also trigger this condition. Some medications such as anti-inflammatory painkillers may flare up Asthma. In some rare cases, anxiety or any emotional stress can be the cause of Asthma.

When to see a Doctor?

Asthma is a serious health condition and needs to be treated medically. So, any symptoms you are suffering from that indicate Asthma, you should not delay visiting your doctor. Also, in case you are an asthma patient, you need to work with your physician to keep it under control. In that case, a routine check-up is very important. In the event of asthma attacks, you are going to suffer from severe symptoms and need medical intervention immediately.

Lifestyle Prevention of Asthma and Wheezing

Preventing Asthma is always not possible but following some measures may reduce the possibility of encountering this disorder.

Since we already know the triggers, you need to avoid any such circumstances that may cause you asthma. For instance, you need to keep yourself away from allergens, such as pollen or dust, etc. Also, there are some chemicals or products that might have caused you breathing problems earlier. So, keep yourself away from them as well. If you are allergic to something you know, take allergy shots that keep your body protected from any asthmatic causes.

Common Ayurvedic Remedies for Asthma and Wheezing

There are some great Ayurvedic remedies for treating these conditions. Some of the herbs and spices such as Cloves, honey, Ajwain, Tulsi, Black Pepper, Ginger, Cinnamon, Turmeric are very effective on Asthma and wheezing.

  • Cloves: Clove is a powerful immune-boosting and very effective on Asthma. Mix 7 to 8 cloves with a banana and keep it overnight and then eat that mixture in the morning. This remedy is very useful for Asthma and Wheezing.
  • Herbal Tea: Herbal tea made by mixing Ajwain, Tulsi, pepper, and ginger is effective organic cough medicine for asthma patients. Drink this tea twice daily for best results.
  • Ginger and Turmeric Milk: Ginger and Turmeric is full of antioxidants and is rich in anti-inflammatory properties and very useful in treating Asthma. Mix 1 tbsp of turmeric powder and a little amount of grounded ginger in a cup of hot milk and drink it twice a day. To add flavour and sweetness, use honey and black pepper.
