Raita is a wonderfully calming food that cools the body and aids digestion. It is recommended to serve with cooked rice for a filling evening meal. According to Ayurveda, it supposedly promotes restful quality sleep and is advised for all dosha types.

Ingredients
Tempering
- 1 Tsp coconut or peanut oil
- ½ Tsp mustard seeds
- ½ Tsp cumin seeds
- 5 Fresh curry leaves
- Pinch turmeric powder
Method
Tempering
- Heat the oil in a small pan over medium heat, then add the mustard seeds. When the seeds turn grey and pop, add the cumin seeds, curry leaves, and turmeric powder and fry for 30 seconds,
- Keep stirring the pan to allow the spices to fry evenly and remove from heat
- Add the thinned yogurt mixture to the pan. Swirl or stir and mix the yogurt well.
Serving Suggestion
Serve with white rice. Or Replace carrot with grated cucumber.
Notes
Use this dish moderately if you have Kapha imbalances like a cough or runny nose.
