Moon Milk

This Ayurvedic sleep potion has the goodness of adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha. It is used as a remedy for sleep deprivation and should be consumed before bed.

Good for all doshas.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Serves: 2 Person

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of cow’s milk. If you are avoiding dairy try almond milk
  • ½ t Ashwagandha powder
  • ½ t ground cinnamon
  • ¼ t dry ginger powder (Sunth)
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 1 t coconut oil
  • 1 t honey or maple syrup
  • Lavender/Rose petals/turmeric (optional)

Method

  1. Heat the milk to reach a gentle simmering stage, just below boiling point and lower the flame.
  2. Whisk in ashwagandha powder, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg powders.
  3. Add honey/maple syrup
  4. Stir in the coconut oil
  5. Whisk thoroughly to avoid big droplets of coconut oil on the surface.
  6. Serve hot/warm

Serving suggestions

You can also add aromatics of you choice like Lavender, Rose petals or Turmeric
Drink ½ cup of Moon milk every night for 6 to 12 weeks to see the effects.

Glaucoma

What is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is an eye condition that occurs due to damage to the optic nerve. The optic nerve is very important for good vision. This is caused by atypically high pressure in the eyes.   • The main cause of gallstone is the excess cholesterol excreted from your liver. When the bile is not in a position to release enough chemicals to dissolve the excess cholesterol, the cholesterol turns into crystals and eventually into stones.
  • Another cause of gallstone is excess bilirubin. Bilirubin is a chemical that forms when your body breaks down red blood cells. There may be instances, such as liver cirrhosis, biliary tract infections, and certain blood disorders, that make your liver produce too much bilirubin. The excess bilirubin is then stored and turned into gallstone.
  • A further cause may be your gallbladder doesn’t empty correctly. In this case, the bile may become very concentrated and turn into gallstones.

  • During an acute gallstone attack, use this herbal formula made from musta, trikatu, and guduchi
  • You simply mix 4 parts musta, 3 parts trikatu, and 6 parts guduchi
  • Take a quarter of a teaspoon of this mixture 2-3 times daily with honey. This should help reduce the pain and ease the gallbladder attacks.
  • If you want to avoid the formation of gallstone then improving thyroid function along with metabolism is very important. In order to enhance your metabolism and to increase the thyroid function, check on the given formula made from punarnava, shatavari, kutki, chitrak, musta and, shilajit :
  • You need to mix 5 parts of punarnava, 4 parts of shatavari, 2 parts of kutki, 2 parts of chitrak, 3 parts of musta and a quarter part of shilajit.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Add half of the olive oil to a pan and when it’s warm add fresh ginger, black pepper, salt, and chopped nuts.
  2. Simmer for 1-2 minutes and add fennel, coriander, and holy basil.
  3. After 1 minute, add kale and gotu kola.
  4. Add just a splash of water, cover, and let it simmer until the kale is tender.
  5. Let it cool and blend everything together with the remaining olive oil, avocado, and lime juice to a smooth paste.

Serving suggestions

Can be served over pearl barley, rice, or fresh pasta and vegetables.
