Urinary Tract infection (Cystitis)

What is Cystitis?

Cystitis is a health condition that makes you feel a burning sensation while urinating. In this condition, your bladder is inflamed due to some bacterial infections and is often called Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). This condition can be severe and may cause you pain and irritation. If the infection spreads to your kidney, this can cause serious health issues related to kidney disease.

What are the Symptoms of Cystitis?

When someone gets affected by this disease he/she develops certain symptoms. Most common symptoms that he/she experience are as follows:
  • Burning sensation while urinating.
  • A strong, relentless need to pass urine.
  • Genital discomfort or irritation.
  • High frequency urination.
  • Small amount of urine every time you pass.
  • Mild fever.
  • Passing cloudy and foul-smelling urine.
  • A sense of strain in the lower abdomen

What are the Causes of Cystitis?

  • It can trigger if someone has an underlying disease like HIV, Diabetes, Kidney stones, Enlarged prostate etc.

If someone has this condition they go through several difficulties like back pain, fever, chills, vomiting and nausea along with difficulties in passing urine. Preventing this condition is possible by maintaining a healthy and hygienic lifestyle. Drinking plenty of water is the most important factor when it comes to preventing Cystitis or any other conditions related to Urinary tract. Apart from that, there are some more preventive measures that can be taken. Like wiping both front and back properly after a bowel movement, taking shower bath rather than tub baths. For the women it is important to wash the skin around the vagina and anus regularly and also avoid the usage of deodorant and feminine products in the genital area.
